The national weather service has issued an extreme heat warning for our region for the next several days - please limit your outside activities during the daytime hours and exercise care during these extreme conditions - children and pets must not be left in vehicles for any length of time.  Please check on your family, friends and neighbors, especially the elderly, and if you need any assistance contact public safety on the non-emergency line at 978-744-1212. 

For those who need a place to cool off, please note the following options:

  • The Mayor Jean Levesque Community Life Center at 401 Bridge Street is opening for extended hours this week from today (Monday) through Thursday from 8:00am through 8:00pm;
  • The Fire Department has scheduled several “Soak The Kids” events. Beginning tomorrow (Tuesday, 7/16) at Forest River Park at 11:00am and then at Collins Cove Playground at 1:30pm, then Wednesday, 7/17 at 1:30pm at the Salem Common, and on Thursday, 7/18 at Forest River Park at 11:00am and at 1:00pm at Collins Cove, the Fire Department will spray down attendees with fire hoses;
  • The Forest River Pool is open Tues, Thurs and Friday from 1:00-6:00pm and Wed from 2:00-6:00pm;
  • All splash pads are open;
